Language is a good and essential start.
The rest probably depends on what kind of Latvian you would like to be!
Yes, language is very important. Lettish is very special language, don't you think so?(unfortunately, I'm not good at it enough to write here:/) I think that a person who is living in foreign country and doesn't want to learn it's language, shows disrespect for that country. The same with history... I think you should communicate with Latvians a lot, interest in things that matters for them.You know, just...to feel that spirit. Also, Latvian has to work for his country. I agree with that man who said that you have to think Latvian. I actually don't believe that you must have some special characteristics, just... all you need is love that country and be proud of being Latvian:) Well, to my mind, these are probably common truths for every country..
